What we do

Aluminium restoration services

Six things we are asked for most. If the surface is aluminium, architectural metal, or sitting right next to it, we can usually bring it back.

01

Architectural aluminium

Window and door frames, sliding systems, balustrades and shopfronts stripped, recoloured and resealed in place — without pulling a single frame out of the wall.

02

Kitchens, cupboards & interiors

Kitchen doors, built-in cupboards, vanities and wall panelling refinished on site in a colour of your choosing — wood, melamine, plastic and mixed surfaces included.

03

Automotive restoration

Aluminium and alloy components, trim and detailing brought back from oxidation and corrosion to a hard, even, road-ready finish.

04

Marine coatings

Protective coating and restoration for marine aluminium — hatches, rails, fittings and superstructure built to hold up against salt air and constant exposure.

05

Industrial components

Plant and industrial aluminium refinished to extend service life, hold tolerance and keep equipment in production instead of on a replacement order.

06

Heirlooms & specialty pieces

One-off restorations of the pieces that carry a family's history — handled slowly, matched carefully and returned looking the way you remember them.

The case for restoring

The metal is fine.
The finish isn't.

Most of what gets ripped out and thrown away is structurally sound. Aluminium does not wear out the way a coating does — it oxidises, chalks and dulls. Put a proper finish back on it and the unit has another life in it.

Replace

  • Rip-out, disposal and a site full of dust
  • Weeks of lead time on new units
  • New hardware, new fitting, new labour
  • Perfectly sound aluminium into landfill

Restore with ALR

  • Finished in place, around your furnishings
  • Days rather than weeks
  • A fraction of the cost of replacement
  • The original units keep working, in a new colour

How a job runs

Four steps, no surprises

01

Assess

We come to the job, inspect the surface, match the colour and put a fixed price in writing before anything is touched.

02

Prepare

Everything around the work is masked and protected, then the surface is stripped, cleaned and keyed so the new finish has something to hold onto.

03

Recolour

Spray-applied in a controlled, contained setup — the coat that decides whether the job looks restored or looks repainted.

04

Protect

Sealed with a durable topcoat, checked over and handed back ready to use, with the life of the piece extended rather than ended.

Who we are

Twenty years of putting finishes back

ALR is a Cape Town restoration specialist working on aluminium and architectural metal surfaces — and on the wood, plastic and mixed materials that usually sit beside them. Over 1 375 completed jobs, the work has stayed the same: assess honestly, protect everything around the piece, and put down a finish that lasts.

Every job is personally attended to, from a single heirloom to a full apartment’s frames and cupboard fronts. That is the whole reason people call us instead of ordering replacements.

“I have used ALR successfully on several jobs at my home. Aziz personally attended to each job with attention to detail and consideration for the protection of the surrounding furnishings, resulting in a seamless conclusion. Highly recommendable.”

Questions

Before you call

Anything not covered here, ask us on WhatsApp — photographs of the surface get you an answer fastest.

What exactly does ALR restore?+

Aluminium and architectural metal in almost every setting — window and door frames, kitchen and cupboard fronts, automotive and marine components, industrial parts and family heirlooms. Wood, plastic and mixed surfaces on the same project are refinished alongside them.

Why restore instead of replace?+

Because the aluminium is usually still sound; it is the finish that has failed. Restoring it costs a fraction of replacement, takes days instead of weeks, and keeps a working unit out of a skip.

Which areas do you cover?+

ALR is based in Cape Town and works across South Africa. Larger commercial, marine and industrial jobs are quoted nationally.

Can you match a specific colour?+

Yes. Colour is matched at the assessment stage, and the match is confirmed with you before any spraying starts.

How do I get a quote?+

Send the form on this page, WhatsApp us on 079 721 9899, or email info@alr13.co.za. Photographs of the surface help us come back to you faster.

What are your hours?+

Monday to Sunday, 08:00 to 17:00.
